ART STUDIO MANAGER POSITION - NORTON FACTORY STUDIOS

This is a paid position which INCLUDES a rent-free studio space in one of the Bay area’s top artist collectives.
The position reports directly to the owner.
ABOUT NORTON FACTORY STUDIOS
Norton Factory Studios is a large, practicing fine artist studio building located in Oakland's Fruitvale district. Established in 2013, Norton Factory is the studio home to 25 artists.
STUDIO MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
The Studio Manager is responsible for the day-to-day of Norton Factory Studios as well as continued long-term planning to maintain Norton Factory as the premier fine artist studio building in the East Bay
PARTIAL LIST OF STUDIO MANAGER DUTIES
The Studio Manager's primary responsibilities include responding to tenant needs, keeping the building at full rental capacity, creating simple new and renewal lease agreements, and ensuring rent is collected and deposited on time.
Additional responsibilities include planning and executing biannual open studios events, fostering a sense of community among the artists, and growing the building's online presence via the website and various social media platforms, specifically Instagram.
Finding and screening tenant applicants (we have quite a low turnover)
Handle tenant concerns/emergencies (everything is in hand most times and tenants are quite self reliant)
Help manage biannual open studios events (we have a lot of existing infrastructure)
Light moderation of Facebook group for tenants (used mostly for notices and reminders)
Maintain and update NFS website (by communicating with website contractor who performs the mods)
Assist with artist posting and manager posts on approved social media platforms
Occasionally create and send mass emails to newsletter subscription list (when required but not often)
Check on upkeep and general maintenance for the building (visual check ups and reports but property is sound)
Monitor cleanliness of the facility (limited interface with bimonthly cleaning crew)
Qualifications/Skills
Proactive in nature, communicative, experience with speaking with many different types of personalities.
Organized and thorough, and can make informed decisions
Can manage and keep track of their time
Familiarity with Oakland/East Bay arts scene
Working artist and/or creative
Software and social media
Nexudus, Zoho or other CMS
Mailchimp or other mass email delivery platform
Experience with a variety of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Experience posting as a business on craigslist and other social media platforms
This is a part time position requiring apx. 32 HOURS A MONTH - AVERAGE, DEPENDING ON VACANCY AND SEASON. There is a tiny 15 minute phone call check in with owner each week.
