POSITION SUMMARY: Kalman Manufacturing is a CNC machine shop looking for a process engineer to support the design and release to production of manufacturing processes to create customer products on our manufacturing floor. As a member of the engineering team, this engineer will work with other process engineers, production, quality, and procurement, as well as our customers and vendors, to develop the most efficient manufacturing process possible. The engineer will be responsible for participating in the overall manufacturing concept, performing detailed analysis of machine tool and process performance and requirements, developing methods of solving problems against machine tool and process performance issues, overseeing fabrication, assembly, and test of prototype and alpha-level processes, as well as finalize and support the process design through production release. Depending on the size and scope of the projects, this work may be done by the engineer alone, or as part of a small team of engineers, machinists, inspectors and designers under the direction of the process engineer. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduate or GED equivalent
10 years of experience in developing machined components in milling centers
5 years of experience in 4 and 5-axis milling work
Fluency in CAD/CAM appropriate for the development of said manufacturing processes
Theoretical understanding of the key metrics and parameters associated with the design of manufacturing processes for complex machined components
Demonstrated technical depth in the analysis of, and development of solutions for the challenges in the fabrication and qualification of complex machined components
Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to create clear reports and documentation
Ability to lead small teams of machinists, inspectors, and other skilled labor
Enthusiastic desire to help drive engineering effort and capability of a company to best in class
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or machine tool technology or related field
Expertise in Esprit CAM software
Expertise in SolidWorks CAD software
Experience in Hypermill CAM Software
Experience in a GROB environment
Project management capabilities centered around the development of project plans and workload/time estimates as well as reporting against project milestones, and developing solutions to close project gaps
Experience in digital manufacturing and development of digital manufacturing capability
