Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Manufacturing / Fabrication Technician at KL Engineering, Inc. located in Morgan Hill, CA. This role will include a very broad range of activities in support of KLE manufacturing projects. There is substantial room for growth for a candidate that demonstrates an aptitude for manufacturing operations and the desire for continual self-improvement.
- Bandsaw setup & operation
- Waterjet setup & operation
- Operate manual milling & turning equipment under direction of machinist
- Operate CNC milling & turning equipment under direction of machinist
- Assist in setup of CNC tooling & workholding under direction of programmer or machinist
- Assist in setup of weld tooling & fixturing under direction of welder
- Assist in manipulation of in-process components for welding, machining or other manufacturing processes
- Press-brake setup & operation
- Deburring & finishing by common means, such as sanding, grinding, tumbling, bead blasting, media blasting, etc.
- Forklift operation for transportation or manipulation of in-process materials or completed components
- Mechanical assembly of components or assemblies using common hand tools, power tools & specialized tooling.
- Cleaning of in-process or completed components
- Packaging of completed components
- Prepare components for shipment to outside processing
- Delivery + Pickup of components from outside processing &/or customer facilities
- Maintain a clean working area by performing clean-up & cleaning operations as directed
- Maintenance of equipment including manual & automatic machine tools, saws, forklifts, coolant systems, etc.
- Other tasks in support of company projects

Qualifications
- Ability to safely, consistently & accurately execute tasks following provided instructions, same-way every time
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe & clean workspace
- Experience working on the shop floor in machine shop, sheetmetal shop or fabrication shop is desired
- Experience with the safe operation of manual & automatic machine tools desired
- Experience with the safe operation of forklifts desired
- Experience with common finishing & deburring equipment desired (grinders, sanders, tumblers, bead blasters, etc.)
- Ability to read and follow blueprints & work instructions
- Familiarity with safe operation of common measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, protractors, gage pins, etc.
- Familiarity with safe operation of common fabrication tools such as drills, saws, sanders, tubing benders, hydraulic press, etc.
- Familiarity with safe operation of common hand tools such as ratchets, wrenches, pliers, crimpers, screwdrivers, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills to stakeholders at all levels of an organization, both internal & external
- Willingness to apply the same level of focus & rigor to all tasks in support of company goals
- Experience supporting both high-mix-low-volume and higher-volume-production type projects
