Heavy equipment fabricator in Union City is looking for a mechanical detailer with experience detailing crane and heavy equipment fabrications. Candidate will be expected to provide complete fabrication drawings and BOM from overall general arrangements provided by the engineer.
About The Position
Expert in 2D AutoCAD, layer control, use of xrefs, plot style management
Assist in the development and improvement of CAD templates and drafting processes
Draft drawings of machinery and devices as directed
Turn engineering models into burn patterns, machine, fabrication, and assembly drawings
Model concepts and detailed designs using 3D and 2D modeling software
Take assembly models, or hand sketches, and transform them into usable drawings that are easy to follow
Modify models at the direction of engineers and others
Identify errors, appropriately ask questions or direction, when models don’t add up
Work proactively with assemblers and machinists
Take direction from engineers to effectively get products made in the shop
Provide recommendations, focusing on solutions rather than problems
Assist in the coordination of activities relative to the development of new equipment
Oversee and guide assigned projects at different stages
Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment
Observe, guide, and manage various projects through the shop
Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment
Qualifications
5 year experience with AutoCAD or certification equivalent
1 year experience in the fabrication industry and/or machine design preferred
Understanding of layer control and CAD templates
Demonstrated ability to make good decisions for cost effective manufacturing
Model control: Understand and ability to maneuver models efficiently without error
Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships at all levels
Receptive to learn and advance in knowledge through critical feedback
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
