Heavy equipment fabricator in Union City is looking for a production/operations manager with experience manufacturing crane and heavy equipment fabrications. The Operations Manager will oversee and manage multiple departments, ensuring seamless coordination, compliance with ASME NQA-1 standards, and operational efficiency. This role requires a strategic leader who can develop and refine processes, drive quality assurance, and align daily operations with the company’s goals and regulatory requirements.

3. JOB REQUIREMENTS
3.1. Three (3) + years experience in a plant or production management role.
3.2. Knowledge of fabrication and electrical systems are a plus.
3.3. Strong leadership, highly organized and problem-solving skills.
3.4. Strong inventory and logistic skills to manage the shipment.
3.5. Strong knowledge of crane manufacturing, maintenance activities, safety protocols, environmental requirements and team management.
3.6. Ability to manage a physically demanding environment.
3.7. Familiarity with Microsoft Office
4. WORKING CONDITION
4.1. Environment: Primarily managing engineers, procurement and production, including fabrication shops, assembly areas, and testing facilities. Occasional field visits for installations may be required, especially for highly sensitive projects.
4.2. Physical Requirements: Ability to analyze drawings and materials required, oversee production activities and deadlines, and oversee machinery maintenance.
4.3. Schedule: Full-time with flexibility to meet production deadlines, including occasional weekends or extended hours as necessary.
5. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION & PRINCIPAL DUTIES
5.1. Production Oversight:
Manage daily production schedules to meet project deadlines, budget and quality standards.
Oversee the fabrication of crane components, electrical panels, and girders.
Ensure adherence to safety and compliance regulations during all phases of production.
5.2. Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor engineering, procurement, parts and production team.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training to improve team efficiency.
5.3. Quality Assurance & Testing:
Ensure all crane assemblies and components meet quality and engineering specifications.
Oversee testing procedures to guarantee functionality and safety compliance before delivery or installation.
5.4. Coordination Across Departments:
Work closely with engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Oversee the shipping and installation and manage the travel, tools, and equipment needs, on-time delivery, and proper installation.
5.5. Process Improvement:
Identify inefficiencies in the production, engineering and procurement process and implement corrective actions.
Optimize workflow and resource allocation to improve productivity, increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
5.6. Oversee Safety Training to all production teams at least quarterly.
5.7. Oversee company inventory, ensuring all received and shipped materials are thoroughly checked, labeled, and recorded.
5.8. Oversee shop inventory systems are up to date.
5.9. Maintain order, cleanliness, and discipline at the shop, ensuring all tools are returned to their original stations.
5.10. Manage and prepare the documents for NQA1 certification and renewed in a timely manner.
5.11. Review and update the Internal processes to ensure compliance with NQA1.
5.12. Manage delivery storage and seamless shipping.
5.13. Manage installation schedules with clients and the team.
5.14. Maintain clear documentation of all the jobs in production, including clear photos of development, issues, change orders and all other pertinent information of the job.
5.15. Organize morning briefing with production and engineering to discuss the day’s expectations and issues.
5.16. Attend the management meeting, to support the growth and development of the operation.
6. MEASURE OF PERFORMANCE
6.1. Production Efficiency:
Meeting or exceeding project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Minimizing downtime and waste during fabrication and assembly processes.
Maintain order and discipline at the shop and ensure all tools are stored back to their original station.
6.2. Quality Standards:
Percentage of products passing initial quality control checks without rework.
Customer satisfaction ratings for delivered and installed cranes.
6.3. Team Management:
Employee productivity and retention rates.
Successful implementation of training programs and measurable skill improvement among staff.
6.4. Cost Management:
Maintaining or reducing production costs while adhering to budgetary constraints.
Effectiveness in identifying and implementing process improvements.
