HERS Breast Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission of supporting all individuals healing from breast cancer by providing post-surgical products and services regardless of financial status. HERS assistance programs provide under-served patients with products and services which facilitate physical and emotional healing. This work is made possible by donors, grants, and fundraising.

Founded by three visionary women in 1998, HERS has been in continuous operation for over 26 years and operates locations in Fremont, Livermore, and San Leandro. "HERS" in an acronym for what we strive to provide for each patient: Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support.

General Job Description:

Breast Care Specialists (BCS) are responsible for providing breast cancer patients with post-surgical product assessment and fitting services and administrative tasks including patient charting. This is a unique position at a unique organization and a wonderful opportunity to support Bay Area breast cancer patients.

Training is provided on the job and the Foundation will cover the costs for Breast Care Specialist to Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CFm). HERS is a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider and is accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics.

Breast Care Specialists report directly to our Director of Programs. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties:

Post-mastectomy assessment and fit services for pocketed bras, breast prosthetics, post-surgical camisoles and compression garments.

Works with referring medical professionals regarding patient needs.

Documents patient conditions and medical necessity of products

Comprehensive knowledge of products, product care, and inventory management

Understanding of computerized ordering system for patient purchases, stock receiving, and creating special orders, and ensuring inventory accuracy

Participation in annual physical inventory

Computer competency, including Microsoft Suite

Ability to enter comprehensive client information into electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PMS) systems

Insurance provider allowances

Meticulous HIPAA compliance

Fulfillment of all Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CFm) licensing requirements upon completing 250 training hours

Education and Experience:

College degree preferred; high school diploma or GED accepted

Medical field and/or social work experience preferred

Mastectomy Fitter: 1 year of experience preferred; however, training is available

Mastectomy Fitter Certification (CFm) (may be obtained upon completion of 250 paid training hours)

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; prior experience with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management (PMS) systems.

Salesforce experience is a plus.

Valid CA Driver's License, auto insurance, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
