GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting the Nutrition Program Coordinator and with senior center logistics in ensuring the smooth functioning of the nutrition program and senior center activities.

CLASSIFICATION:

Non-exempt (hourly)

Monday – Friday: 8 hours per day (40 hour per week)

Work Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:

This position does provide some direct supervision to staff and volunteers, and is supervised directly by the Nutrition Program Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist in supervising staff and volunteers in the food service, front desk, and home-delivered meals program areas.

Assumes coordinator responsibilities in the absence of the Nutrition Program Coordinator.

Responsible for recording and maintaining all statistics and donations for program reporting and contract needs.

Assist in maintaining inventory and supplies to maintain smooth operations of the nutrition program.

Responsible for assisting with all senior center activity logistics and scheduling.

Flexible schedule to assist in staffing and supervising as needed.

Ability to act as a substitute for staff to continue the smooth operations of programs.

MARGINAL / NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs other duties as assigned and requested by the Nutrition Program Coordinator.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS:

Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Mathematics: Using mathematics to keep track of supplies to be restocked and meals to be packed and delivered.

Speaking: Communicating with others to convey information effectively.

Writing: Maintaining written inventory logs of supplies and food.

Reading Comprehension: Reading and understanding written sentences and paragraphs related to work and safety rules, procedures, instructions and temperature readings for prepared foods and operating equipment.

Organization: Maintaining order by planning work activities in an organized manner.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School graduate or GED equivalent.

Current Food Safety & Sanitation certification

Clean DMV record (Current CA. DMV license and insurable)

Previous experience working with social service organizations or senior citizens.

Bilingual in Japanese and English preferred to facilitate communication with senior citizens served by organization.
