Stanford University has an immediate opening for an entry-level 40 hour per week Life Science Research Professional 1/Administrator position.
Responsibilities will primarily include:
-Animal colony management involving rodent breeding and genotyping, etc.
-Operational/administrative tasks including but not limited to:
Assisting with lab supply inventory control
Purchasing and order reconciliation
Correspondence with vendors and outside institutions
Event and travel planning
Travel reimbursements
Creating and updating spreadsheets
Assisting with grant proposals
-Assistance with research projects focused on neural circuitry of psychiatric conditions, such as depression, fear, and anxiety in animal models.
Requirements:
Successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Science. This candidate should have good aseptic techniques or willingness to learn these techniques and/or other scientific techniques that may include surgeries on mice and tissue culturing. Must be willing to handle live animals (rats and mice); experience with animal colony management is a plus.
Ability to work independently using initiative, judgment, and discretion in resolving problems. Must have excellent business writing skills and interpersonal skills dealing with a wide variety of individuals. High level of professionalism and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines is a must. Proficient in Microsoft office applications, including Word and Excel.
Experience with Stanford computer systems, policies, and procedures is preferred.
