Nautilus Biotechnology, Inc. in San Carlos, CA seeks a Senior Engineer, Instrument Firmware.
Responsibilities: Responsible for working closely with cross-functional team of Instrument Control specialists that will address the software needs of our analytical protein instruments, including designing and developing automated, high-level behaviors and algorithms in a fault-tolerant orientation using C and Python coding languages, and git and common unix command-line tools; supporting the development of new STM32 microcontroller boards and associated FreeRTOS libraries for instrument operations; implementing reliable software interfaces to peripherals over a variety of transports; collaborating with domain experts to validate software system behavior; developing an understanding of and recommending new technologies and practices for business solutions and systems and processes improvements and enhancements; performing code reviews to refine designs of colleagues; and other duties as assigned. Salary range $170K - $200K. Employee may be stationed anywhere in continental U.S., reporting to the Nautilus worksite in San Carlos, California.
Education: Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related positions; two (2) years of experience working with all aspects of the software life cycle in a shipping product, including design, implementation, and ongoing support; two (2) years of experience with modern software development practices, including version control and common unix command-line tools; two (2) years of experience in Continuous Integration, functional, and unit-test frameworks; and two (2) years of experience using C, Python, and common patterns and idioms.
