Job Overview:
The Sponsorship Coordinator will play a vital role in securing and managing sponsorships for the hockey team. This individual will work closely with the marketing and sales teams to develop partnerships that drive revenue, enhance the fan experience, and support the team’s community presence. The ideal candidate is results-driven, creative, and passionate about both hockey and building strong relationships with businesses and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Sponsorship Acquisition:
Identify, approach, and secure sponsorship opportunities with local, regional, and national businesses.
Develop tailored sponsorship packages that align with partner goals and team objectives, including in-arena signage, digital marketing, promotional activities, and community events.
Pitch sponsorship proposals to potential partners and negotiate terms of agreements.
Relationship Management:
Serve as the main point of contact for existing sponsors, ensuring satisfaction and delivering on contractual obligations.
Foster long-term relationships with sponsors by maintaining consistent communication and offering creative activation ideas to maximize ROI.
Activation & Execution:
Collaborate with the marketing and game-day operations teams to ensure successful activation of sponsorships during games and events.
Oversee the implementation of sponsorship agreements, including coordinating signage, promotional activities, and public recognition during games.
Reporting & Evaluation:
Track and report the success of sponsorship initiatives, providing insights on ROI and recommending improvements for future deals.
Conduct post-event or season evaluations to ensure sponsors are satisfied with the results and to identify upsell opportunities.
Collaboration & Innovation:
Work closely with other departments (community relations, sales, operations) to integrate sponsorship elements into various team initiatives.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in sports sponsorship and continuously look for innovative ways to enhance sponsorship offerings.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in sales, sponsorship sales, corporate partnerships, or a related field.
Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Knowledge of the sports industry, especially hockey, is a strong asset, but not required.
Preferred Skills:
Strong relationship building and sales skills.
Familiarity with CRM software and project management tools.
Understanding of local business markets and community engagement strategies.
