Maplebear Inc. D/B/A Instacart in San Francisco, CA seeks Senior Data Scientist, Technical (Multiple Openings).
Responsibilities: Design and optimize large database systems, computational methods, and analytical frameworks to enhance and extend data-driven insights. Duties include: applying complex systems modeling, quantitative methods, machine learning, and other technical principles to develop and maintain highly-scalable data structures; integrating innovative design techniques to automate reporting and deliver real-time insights; developing predictive models and simulations to quantify the impact of various product and policy interventions; democratizing data through dashboards and other analytical tools to enable objective decision making across the company; recommending technical upgrades or other improvements to scale database infrastructures; mentoring lower-level data scientists as needed; and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States but will report directly to Instacart headquarters in San Francisco, CA.
Education: Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: 2 years of experience in the job offered or related. Other special requirements include: 2 years of experience writing complex, efficient, and eloquent SQL queries to extract data; 2 years of experience working with Python, R, or similar for large-scale data analysis; 2 years of experience democratizing data through dashboards and other analytical tools; and 2 years of experience using machine learning or similar techniques to automate and optimize database systems.
In lieu of a Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related.
