Bindery Equipment Field Service Technician

Godar Machinery Company in Concord, Ca. is seeking a field service technician to repair, install and maintain bindery, mailing and finishing machinery in the commercial printing industry. Typical types of equipment that we service would be paper cutters, booklet makers and stitchers, perfect binders, inkjet addressing systems, tabbers, die cutters, punches, folders, laminators and much more. Extensive technical knowledge of any one of these particular types of equipment is a bonus yet knowing about multiple pieces would be preferred.

Applicants should have experience working in a commercial printing environment in some capacity be it as a skilled machine operator or in machinery maintenance.

We are located in Concord yet most of the service would be performed within the greater Bay Area, Sacramento and the Central Valley. Work is often performed in our shop and most days would start there before heading out to service calls. This position requires extensive travel yet mostly within an hour drive of Concord. This includes a lot of driving and the occasional need to fly to work sites or training schools. We supply the work vehicle and all of the necessary tools.

Schedule

Typically, 40 hours M-F. Four 10 hour days are an option if preferred. No weekend work required yet shifts are sometimes available if interested.

Requirements

Applicants must be able to lift 50lbs. and sometimes deal with parts and tools up to 75lbs. and heavier

Must be able to multi-task and manage several projects at one time.

Must have excellent communication skills.

Must have a clean driving record. A current DMV printout will be requested.

Must be very comfortable with typical office computer communication such as emailing with co-workers and customers, utilizing Excel, Word, and other common programs.

Technical Skills

Candidates should have a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and components and how to diagnose faulty components. Experience working with three-phase power systems a plus. Should be able to read and utilize electrical schematics in the diagnosis of electrical issues. Should be able to use, read and comprehend data from a multimeter. Knowledge of how individual components within a circuit board work would not be required yet being able to confirm that a board is defective would be.

We would be willing to train a candidate with some shortcomings regarding diagnosing electrical components yet they would expect pay at the lower end of the pay scale.

Will need to have basic machining skills such as tapping, drilling, grinding, filing, etc. We also have a full CNC machine shop and often recondition worn or damaged parts removed from customer's machines, so more advanced machining skills such as milling, turning, precision measurement and the like are very beneficial.

Pay and Benefits

$72,000 to $115,000 salary depending on experience.

We are willing to discuss starting a hire with strong diagnostic skills yet without experience in the commercial printing industry but the starting pay would be below the lower end of the pay range listed.
