A well-established wood products manufacturer in San Jose is seeking an experienced Cabinet Foreman to join our team. Position Overview
The Cabinet Foreman will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cabinet production in our shop. This includes supervising and training staff, coordinating with project managers, ensuring quality standards, and optimizing workflows to meet deadlines. The foreman will serve as the key link between management and shop staff, ensuring both efficiency and craftsmanship are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
o Manage day-to-day cabinet shop operations and personnel.
o Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely project completion.
o Mentor, train, and evaluate cabinetmakers and shop staff.
Production Management
o Interpret architectural plans, blueprints, and shop drawings.
o Plan production schedules and allocate resources effectively.
o Ensure proper materials, tools, and machinery are available.
o Coordinate with purchasing and management on material needs.
Quality & Safety
o Inspect work throughout production for accuracy and quality.
o Uphold woodworking best practices, joinery, and finishing standards.
o Enforce safety standards, maintain a clean and organized shop.
Communication & Coordination
o Collaborate with project managers, sales team, and management on project timelines.
o Provide updates on production progress, challenges, and solutions.
o Serve as the point of contact for shop-related issues.
Continuous Improvement
o Recommend process improvements for efficiency and cost control.
o Assist in training staff on new equipment, methods, or safety protocols.
Qualifications
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in cabinetry, millwork, or related woodworking trades.
Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
Expertise in cabinetmaking techniques, joinery, finishing, and installation preparation.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency with woodworking machinery, tools, and safety procedures.
Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team of skilled craftsmen.
