Vought Construction
ABOUT THE COMPANY & OWNER
Hi, my name is Devon Vought, owner of Vought Construction. We are a high-end custom home builder and remodeler specializing in complex hillside homes in the Bay Area. I received my contractor’s license in 2013 as one of the youngest licensees in California. I didn’t finish high school—I grew up around tradesmen and found my way into construction early. I was blessed to fall into construction and to realize early that I love it. I've one awards in the industry and I'm currently a nominee for builder of the year.
What started as a love for building has turned into a multi-million-dollar company built on integrity, communication, and craftsmanship. My mission has always been to raise the standard in an industry that’s often antiquated and lacking transparency. Quite frankly, an industry that is looked down upon by most and I'm out to change that.
We operate like a close-knit family and hold ourselves to a “Ritz-Carlton of construction” standard. We’re not just swinging hammers—we’re delivering an exceptional experience to homeowners who trust us with their largest investment. My belief is that quality work is the lowest rung of the ladder. Everyone at my level does quality work but not everyone can deliver an enjoyable experience in construction.
If you join our team, you’re joining a group committed to personal growth, excellence, and becoming the best at what we do. This is not a clock-in/clock-out environment. I'm a firm believer in having lots personal and family time and I love my vacations. However, when we are at work we are in the game and we're playing to be the best. That takes constant sharping of our skills and learning new things. Everything we do is custom. So, we're always learning new things and solving new problems. That's the fun part.
WHY WORK FOR US?
Because you love to build, you love to create beauty, and your great at what you do. I will always invest everything into you so you can be the best at what you do. If there's anything you want to learn, any classes, certifications, licenses that you want, I will help you gain them. You may have already been a contractor or hold a contractor's license. The business side of it is one of the most challenging aspects and you may want to just put your skills to use without worrying about a payroll every week. I get it. I will take the burden of all that stress if you can do what you do best and build beautiful homes.
WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE
This role is all about delivering a homeowner experience so exceptional they can’t wait to hire us again. Your day-to-day will include:
Being the point of contact for homeowners — building relationships, greeting them in the morning, knowing their kids’ names, being the face of the company on site.
Meeting with the field team and subs every morning to set clear goals.
Creating daily job logs in our project management system (JobTread)
Coordinating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors
Tracking progress, identifying potential issues early, and keeping the project moving smoothly
Maintaining a clean, safe, organized jobsite
Treating the project like it’s your baby — because it is. You're building a piece of art that's never been done before and it's going to last after we are gone.
You will be supported by me personally, your project manager, and by our office team every step of the way. Our goal is to set you up to win.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
Integrity — Do what you say. If circumstances change, communicate immediately and create a new commitment. This is our foundation. Everyone makes mistakes. Our job is to own them and resolve them.
