Landscape Irrigation Technician

Position: Irrigation Technician

Department: Landscape Services

Reports to: Supervisor / Account Manager

Pay Range: Based on Level

Trainee/Tech Level 1: $16 - $19 per hour

Tech Level 2: $19 - $22 per hour

Tech Level 3: $22 - $30 per hour

Position Summary:

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems on commercial or residential properties. This role ensures proper water management and irrigation efficiency, promoting sustainable landscape practices while meeting company and client standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and execute daily schedule and work plan with Supervisor or Account Manager.

Perform all levels of irrigation system repairs, including sprinklers, nozzles, valves, drip lines, and wiring.

Conduct regular field observations, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of irrigation issues, documenting findings and repairs.

Set up job site hazard precautions and maintain a clean and organized work area, including truck, tools, and materials.

Interact with clients as needed, providing high-quality customer service and communicating service outcomes.

Manage daily close-outs by documenting tasks completed, labor and materials used, and remaining work.

Inventory truck and restock as needed, reporting any equipment or safety hazards.

Work on-call after hours, holidays, and weekends if required.

Qualifications:

Valid California driver’s license with a clean record.

High school diploma or equivalent (GED, trade certifications).

Proficient in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Fluent in English, with Spanish fluency as an asset.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, bend, stoop, and work in all weather conditions.

Knowledge (varies by level):

Level 1: Basic knowledge of irrigation tools, nomenclature, and repairs for sprinklers, nozzles, valves, and low-voltage wiring.

Level 2: Advanced skills in irrigation part nomenclature, controller programming, and troubleshooting techniques.

Level 3: Expertise in irrigation system mapping, electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics, water conservation practices, and advanced controller programming.

Other Requirements:

Adhere to company policies and safety procedures.

Maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members.

Comply with safe driving and parking practices, setting up caution measures on job sites.
