CERAMIC STUDIO TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT
Work in a SF Pottery Studio! – San Francisco
20–40 hours per week $22-$25/hr starting DOE
Love the idea of working in a creative space, being part of a buzzing artist community, and getting your hands (very) dirty? Perfect — because we’re hiring a Studio Technician Assistant who thrives in fast-paced environments, isn’t afraid of hard work, and wants to be right in the middle of the SF art scene.
We’ll happily train someone new to ceramics if you’re reliable, energetic, and ready to move with purpose. This is NOT a slow or sit-around job. Our studio is big, messy, joyful chaos — and we love it. If you do too, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll be doing:
Cleaning… a lot. Sweeping, mopping, wiping, scrubbing, emptying trash — both floors.
Lifting heavy stuff like 50 lb boxes of clay and hauling them up/down stairs (consider this your free gym membership).
Dumping buckets, cleaning traps, dealing with clay slop. It’s messy. You must be okay with messy.
Assisting our technicians with kiln loading, glaze mixing, class setup/breakdown.
Learning how a high-volume pottery studio truly runs behind the scenes.
Helping members and answering simple questions (we’ll teach you what you need to know).
Who we want:
Dependable and shows up — every time.
Fast. Efficient. You move with urgency when the studio is busy (which is often).
Good attitude, team player, no drama.
Physically strong enough to lift 50 lbs and handle long days on your feet.
Kind to others, excited to learn, and able to keep up with a very active team.
If you’ve worked in restaurants, warehouses, retail, or any job that requires hustle — you’ll excel here.
Why you’ll love it:
You’ll join one of SF’s largest and most vibrant artist communities.
You get to learn pottery (or level up your skills) while working around professional artists every day.
Free pottery classes and studio membership.
Real growth opportunities — many of our tech assistants move into teaching or technician roles.
A supportive, lively team that truly takes pride in this studio.
Schedule:
Must be available evenings and weekends. Our busiest shifts are Mon–Fri 6–9pm and all day on weekends. No daytime weekday shifts available yet.
If you’re hardworking, quick on your feet, friendly, and excited to be part of a creative, high-energy environment — we’d love to meet you. If you want a chill, slow-paced job where you sit around… this won’t be it.
Please reply to this email with a cover letter explaining why you would be a good fit for our studio and also tell us a little bit about yourself. Please attach resume and references. Position available immediately. Start date within the next week or 2.
We look forward to meeting you!
