Job Title: Mill Shop Lead

Employment Type: Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM)

We are a specialty lumber yard and mill shop serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area since 1991. We provide high-quality lumber and wood products to builders and craftsmen. Our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction drives our business, and we are seeking a dedicated Mill Shop Lead to join our team.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced woodworker with strong machine operation skills to lead our mill shop team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and a team player who can efficiently utilize a variety of woodworking equipment to produce custom mill work.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a full array of woodworking equipment, including but not limited to:
o Horizontal band mills
o Resaw
o Planers
o Jointer
o Table saw
o Moulder
o Shaper
o Wide belt sander
Oversee daily shop operations and ensure the production of high-quality custom mill work.
Manage and execute various projects, including:
o Resizing logs and lumber
o Sanding and finishing surfaces
o Fabricating table and countertop components
o Producing radius mill work and treads
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and specifications.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Assist in training and mentoring new employees as needed.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in woodworking and operating multiple types of machinery.
Strong understanding of woodworking techniques and best practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
