Project Engineer

A rapidly growing General Engineering Contractor, specializing in Environmental Remediation and Demolition, is seeking candidates for a Project Engineer Position. We are seeking driven individuals who continually find themselves striving to learn and challenge their skill set. The Company and our client base work on very unique and complex projects and we need individuals who can think outside the box, be creative, and endeavor to find solutions to problems.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications

- Must have the ability to perform and be proficient in geometrical and mathematical calculations

- Must have knowledge of basic computer systems and software

- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

- Must be able to climb, work at various heights and lift a minimum of 50 lbs

- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

- Must be willing to travel as needed

- Must have a minimum of 3-4 years experience

- General Engineering construction experience is desirable

- Environmental remediation experience and 40 Hr Hazwoper training is desirable

JOB TASKS

Project Engineers report to the Project Manager. They are also considered part of on-site management and are responsible for various aspects of each project. Project safety and quality shall be continuously monitored. Project Engineers are responsible for all construction layout and project documentation. More specifically, they…

- Engage in site layout, cost estimating, construction planning, scheduling, material procurement, quality control, and job site safety

- Perform quantity tracking (including calculations) and cost coding for purposes of productivity analysis and accurate job cost forecasting

- Initiate progress and final payments with owners and subcontractors

- Prepare daily reports as related to crews, progress and issues

- Provide document control for correspondence, submittals, RFI’s, etc

- Assist in the preparation of final records for the project, including as-builts

- Work with foreman to ensure structures are built in conformance with the contract requirements

- Coordinate and monitor the work of subcontractors

- Represent contractor in a business-like and professional manner

- Assist in carrying out a variety of basic field duties at the job site related to general construction

Project engineers are team members reporting to the project manager, who help manage all aspects of construction projects including estimating and bidding processes, coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors, and write contracts and purchase orders using company boilerplate language to document all ordered work, schedules, projected costs, change orders and technical specifications, etc. Project engineers must have a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, engineering technology or construction management, or Associate of Arts degree in construction management or related field.
