Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Weekend Writer-Editor to join our team. This individual will take on the dual role of crafting a morning "links round up" and producing 1-3 reblog articles each Saturday and Sunday. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism, a knack for quick and accurate reporting, and a talent for adding fresh perspectives and insightful commentary to news stories.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Morning Links Round Up:
- Compile and summarize key updates and stories that were not covered in full articles.
- Ensure the round-up is ready for publication by the morning hours each weekend day.
2. Reblog Articles:
- Write 1-3 articles each Saturday and Sunday based on recent breaking news.
- Gather additional background information to enhance the story.
- Include personal knowledge and commentary to provide a unique perspective.
- Ensure all content aligns with SFist's tone and standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience and Training in Journalism: Candidates must have a background in journalism, with formal training or equivalent practical experience.
- Published Work: Must have been previously published in well-known publications. Provide writing samples through links to said publications.
- Skills:
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent research skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with AP style is a plus.
- Availability: Must be available to work every Saturday and Sunday morning.
