About the Role
We’re looking for a Quartermaster to join our team. This is a mid-level position where you’ll continue to build your skills as you gain clients and projects. You’re expected to be comfortable handling a variety of Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), Payroll, Month End, Sales Tax Preparation, Business Property Tax Preparation, Year End, and support other bookkeeping basics to assist the First Mate of Ledgers, aka Senior Bookkeepers, and Apprentice Sailors, aka Junior Bookkeepers, ensuring all of our clients deadlines are met.
We are willing to train the right person, but you should come in with at least a basic understanding of debits and credits to succeed in this role, and have previous bookkeeping experience. If you bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, this could be a great opportunity to grow with us.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with month-end reporting and preparing accounts
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and vendor accounts regularly
- Assist in preparing financial reports and month-end closings for review
- Prepare and process payroll
- Assist with client A/R tasks, including invoicing, processing, and payment tracking
- Support A/P tasks, such as bill entry and vendor payments
- Record Journal entries accurately and consistently
- Perform data entry and maintain organized financial records
- Reconcile transactions and ensure accuracy
- Follow step-by-step processes and repeat them consistently
- Sales Tax Preparation
- Quarterly Payroll Preparations
- Business Property Tax Preparations
- 1099 Vendor Identification and Preparation
- Work closely with our team to support client needs
What We’re Looking For

Basic Understanding of debits and credits
Basic computer skills (QuickBooks Online experience is a plus, but not required)

Recommended: Two computer screens for efficiency purposes
Pay & Benefits
Hourly Pay: $18.50 - $21.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, 32 - 40 hours per week
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly direct deposit
Remote Work: 100% remote (must reside in California)
Holidays: Office closed for 9 federal holidays
Time Off: Days off request (minimum 2 weeks in advance); currently unpaid time off
CA Sick Time: Accrued and available per California law
Stipends & Support: $25.00 per paycheck home technology stipend for internet use
Software: All bookkeeping software provided and paid for by the company
Compliance: WISP-compliant systems to ensure secure client data
