The Room Attendant is responsible for the overall cleaning and replenishing of amenities for hotel guest rooms ensuring that rooms are well-maintained and meet Hotel San Luis Obispo’s standards of quality and cleanliness. The Room Attendant is expected to clean a minimum number of rooms daily, ranging in size from standard king rooms to suites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Cleans guest bedrooms – daily duties include sweeping/vacuuming floor and rugs, emptying wastebaskets, changing linens and making bed, dusting furniture
Cleans guest bathrooms – daily duties include sweeping/mopping floor, scrubbing/disinfecting the toilet, tub, shower, basin and counter; replacing towels, toilet paper and other guest amenities
Cleans kitchenette area – daily duties include cleaning counter top, replacing coffee/tea supplies, cleaning and restocking refrigerator
Dusts all surfaces
Touches up windows, walls, and baseboards and cleans patio/balconies, floors and furniture
Inspects guest rooms to see if any repairs are required and reports these to the maintenance department or supervisor
Checks to be sure rooms have all necessary supplies and equipment, including iron and ironing board, hangers, clock radio, robes and slippers, ice bucket, clean glasses, corkscrew, magazines, guest directory, pens/pencils, and hair dryer
Reports needed repairs or unsafe conditions to the supervisor on duty.
Immediately reports and delivers lost and found items to the supervisor on duty.
Immediately reports any suspicious activity or safety issues to the supervisor on duty.
Stocks carts with supplies
Makes each guest room as neat as possible without disturbing guests’ personal property
Deep cleans as assigned on special project days
Performs other duties as assigned

Six months related experience working in a hotel or customer service role.

Previous Houseperson or Room Attendant experience

Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Hours: 16 - 24 hours per week; must have weekend and holiday availability
The budgeted hourly rate that Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position is $18.00 per hour. Rate of pay offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of consistent pay practices at the hotel.
