Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the SSVF Program Supervisor, the Housing Placement Specialist will work in collaboration with the all SSVF project staff in securing appropriate permanent housing and/or eviction prevention interventions for Veterans and their families. The Housing Placement Specialist will utilize partnerships with Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Programs, HASLO, other Community Based Organizations, and landlords/property management companies to establish and expand housing resources and eviction prevention remedies. Works with staff and appropriate partners to ensure a smooth transition into permanent housing and maintains a supportive relationship with the Veteran/family to sustain permanent housing within the community. Supports CAPSLO’s mission by providing direct services to SSVF clients to assist them in obtaining appropriate permanent housing and to prevent evictions.

Required Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Human Services or related field; related experience may be substituted (4 years).

-Must have demonstrated experience in working with housing resources, and/or housing.

Preferred Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Human Services or related field.

-Experience in working with housing resources and/or housing.

-Veterans with other than dishonorable discharge preferred.

License & Certifications:

-Must have a valid California Driver’s License, and a reliable vehicle available for business use (mileage reimbursed) and acceptable driving record.

-A DMV printout and proof of insurance will be required
