Senior Accountant

Description Location: South San Francisco, CA (On-Site)Wholesale company based in South San Francisco, seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sr Accountant / Controller to help clean up financial records. Perform a thorough review and reallocation of accounts, as well as resolve discrepancies in our balance sheet and subsidiary ledgers.Position Overview:Sr. Accountant / Controller will play a key role in cleaning up our accounting books, focusing on resolving discrepancies in the balance sheet, (AP), (AR), and subsidiary ledgers. candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, a deep understanding of financial systems, and the ability to train and guide internal staff through the process. This is a hands-on, on-site role that will require the candidate to go back approximately 10 years to reconcile and reallocate accounts, resolve issues, and implement best practices.Key Responsibilities:

Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Resolve discrepancies in the balance sheet by identifying and correcting misallocations, inaccuracies, and discrepancies between accounts.

Accounts Payable/Receivable: Review and reconcile AP/AR balances that do not match subsidiary ledgers. Investigate unknown customer discrepancies and reconcile outstanding balances.

Reallocation of Accounts: Work with the finance team to reallocate five different accounts and ensure proper classification and accounting treatment.

Historical Review: Analyze and review accounting records for the past 10 years to identify errors, inconsistencies, and areas that require cleanup.

On-Site Training: Provide guidance and training to the internal accounting team to help them understand the cleanup process, ensure compliance, and implement improvements for future bookkeeping practices.

Financial Reporting: Prepare corrected financial reports, highlighting discrepancies, reallocated amounts, and any issues identified during the cleanup process.

Process Improvement: Advise on best practices and internal controls to prevent future discrepancies and streamline accounting operations.

Requirements

Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting or least 2 years in a controller or senior accountant role.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting software. Experience with NetSuite is required.

Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex accounting issues, including discrepancies in balance sheets, ledgers, and historical records.
