Nationally recognized as a quality lead St. Josephs is consistently chosen as the most preferred hospital by local consumers.ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:Provides optimum respiratory care for patients with respiratory disorders and performs therapy as ordered by the physician in accordance with current departmental policies. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages. Acts as relief shift supervisor when required. Maintains department productivity levels by monitoring workloads throughout the shift. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organizations strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:Graduate of a School of Respiratory Therapy with an Associates Degree.

Currently requires a graduate of a two year Respiratory Therapy Program and certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Respiratory Practitioners hired prior to 2003 with one-year certificate and must have been grandfathered into the position.

Current CA License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Current BCLS-Card from the American Heart Association.

NRP and Stable certification will be required to work in NICU and will be provided after hire.

Must be certified in CPR (may also obtain up to three months after hire). Maintain current license with Respiratory Care Examining Committee.

Position will be required to supervise and have the ability to work in all critical areas including the NICU.

Experience in intubations (adult pediatric and infant) arterial puncture arterial line draws high frequency ventilation preferred but will train.

Member of American Association of Respiratory Therapists and California Society of Respiratory Therapists preferred but not required.
