Job Summary:The Student Support Representative will assist the Student Support Specialist and Campus Director in the implementation of an academic monitoring of support programs by providing direct assistance to students to facilitate a positive academic experience. The Student Support Representative will assist academic processes including scheduling, course evaluation, assist placement coordinator with obtaining practicum sites, assist placement coordinator with placing students for qualifying occupations based on program completion, etc. The Student Support Representative will also maintain related records. This position must maintain up-to-date knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and programs and of campus policies and resources, in order to inform and support students and faculty. This role serves as a dual role in which the Student Support Representative with serve as faculty in the classroom for the subject areas in which the individual qualifies.Qualifications:Bachelors degree preferred; or equivalent combination of training and experience

Academic background in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Student Development preferred.

Knowledge of active listening skills, problem solving, deductive and inductive reasoning, etc.

Demonstrated ability to motivate students to academically achieve

Strong written, oral communication and expression

Computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of Campus Vue preferred

Strong organizational skills and knowledge of operational procedures at the college level.

Experience providing academic support, study skills assistance, time management strategies or other learning support instruction,

Experience working with students experiencing academic challenges for any reason including but not limited to, a lack of academic preparation, skills or motivations

Occasional evening hours required

Duties and Responsibilities:The Student Support Representative will assist in outreach and recruitment, assist in organizing student-focused departmental events throughout the year, and will assist the department at a variety of other events. This role is subject to other duties per the request of any leadership. In addition, the Student Support Representative will assist in advising services to students and must be qualified to do the following:

Assist in addressing issues ranging from academic requirements to personal matters affecting a student’s Advanced College experience.

Assist in providing study skills assistance to identified students.

Work with students on strategies designed to enhance academic performance and their success at and eventual graduation from the Advanced College

Assist with development of programs aimed at improving retention and graduation rates for students.

Assist in mentoring students who are deemed at-risk.

The Student Support Representative position involves a high level of customer service on a daily basis; there is a large amount of contact with students as well as internal communication with Advanced College faculty and staff. The Student Support Representative’s primary role is assisting with connecting student consumers to resources.
