Medical Records Specialist

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Review and prepare medical records request(s)

B. Upkeep of medical records sent with confirmation of receipt

C. Answer calls regarding medical records

D. Coordinate with Facilities or other entities for bulk medical records requests. E. Help follow up with authorizations requests

F. Assist other departments with medical records requests/issues

G. Cross train and work with Billing Supervisor for potential projects

H. Process Medical Records payments

I. Prepare and submit paper claims along with supporting documents (Primary, secondary, tertiary, etc)

J. Any other task asked of you by your supervisor/manager/shareholder

Qualifications

a. High school diploma (required)

b. One year experience in a medical setting

c. Working knowledge of all Microsoft office computer programs.

d. Working knowledge of EMR system

Working conditions:

a. In office position

b. Basic physical requirements:

i. Climbing

ii. standing for long periods of time

iii. Stooping

iv. Sitting and typing for long periods of time

v. Lifting up to 10 lbs

Travel Requirements:

a. None

Compensation:

a. Non-exempt, hourly position

b. Hourly range of $18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience and time with the company .

c. 38-40 hours per week. Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 1 (one) hour lunch break. Fridays 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 1 (one) hour lunch break.

e. Scrub stipend in the spring and fall, $125

f. Monthly cell phone stipend of $15.00

h. PTO package-vacation and sick combined. Accrue 1.54 hours per pay period from date of hire. Accrual rate increases at the 1 year, 5 year and 10 year anniversary.

i. Mileage reimbursement at 0.70 cents per mile while on the clock.
