Position Summary: This position supports the Tooling department in completing all setup, changeover, maintenance, cleaning, and repair tasks associated with Scientific Specialties’ injection molds. The role requires strong technical competency, the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, experience machining, and effective communication with Tool Room leadership, Engineering, Automation, Production, and Maintenance teams.
Essential Job Duties:
Performs mold maintenance (along with department staff), including disassembly, cleaning, insert changes and repairs.
Execute tooling tasks assigned by the Tool Room Manager or Tooling leadership to support production schedules.
Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on all tools in a timely fashion, and that preventative maintenance records are maintained.
Identify mold issues and collaborate with Tool Room leadership, Engineering, and Production to support corrective actions.
Conduct preventative maintenance on molds and ensure accurate documentation of work performed.
Provides support services for the Automation, Production and Maintenance departments.
Follow all established safety, health, quality, and company policies, procedures, and practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
Experience, Skills and Education:
5+ years of injection molding tooling or molding and machining experience
Proven experience reading plans and schematics
Ability to operate all shop machinery: mills, lathes, grinders, welders, EDM, saws, drill press, pantograph, etc. and drive a forklift.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Good English written/oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information and convey concepts and ideas to a variety of audiences
Ability to set priorities, organize work and work in high production environment while responding quickly and effectively under pressure, changing priorities and tight timelines/deadlines
Strong customer service focus, attention to detail/accuracy, quick learner and internally motivated to seek out answers and generate ideas
Proven project management and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges with consistent follow through
Experience with MS Office Suite

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Extensive standing and walking.
Ability to grasp both manual and power tools (including an air hose squeezing motion) and use them in a safe working manner
Stooping, crouching, and bending capabilities to handle all job requirements.
Balancing to maintain body equilibrium, to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or bending.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50–150 pounds with assistance such as a hand truck.
Ability to work in environments with metal shavings, dust, and potentially hazardous materials including Beryllium Copper.
Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals such as WD-40 and Acetone.
