This includes overall responsibility and accountability for delivering on the product lines' revenue, profitability, and growth. They will be responsible and accountable for understanding customer needs, analyzing market conditions (working with marketing teams), defining features or functions, and managing product introduction and retirement. This role spans different activities from strategic to tactical and will serve as an interdisciplinary role between the R&D, operations, marketing, commercial organizations.A day in the Life:Product Revenue and Vitality Metrics

Expert understanding and control of profitability, margins, and lifecycle.

Responsible for product revenue, margin and vitality across assigned product lines.

Prepares business cases and financial models; manages the P&L for assigned product(s).

Analyzes, evaluates, and makes recommendations based on findings to drive and improve performance.

Motivates changes based on strategic shifts and internal and external factors in conjunction with leadership.

Portfolio Roadmap and STRAP Planning

Responsible for portfolio roadmap and strategy for assigned area of responsibility.

Influences STRAP process in partnership with marketing and business leaders.

Partners with business and functional experts to drive OEM strategy and opportunities within the business unit.

Proposes solutions for gaps in portfolio including potential partnership opportunities.

Collaborates on annual operating plan, marketing plan and strategic plan to achieve growth and financial objectives.

Product Life Cycle Management

Expertly manages lifecycle of a product (inception to retirement).

Reports and supports resolution of product quality and compliance issues.

Proactively drive operations team on planning and forecasting for the product line (Supply Chain Inventory Operations Planning) and ensures appropriate maintenance of Material Master (SAP and/or other business systems). Drives related process improvements.

Conducts gap analysis and makes recommendations for product improvements and rationalization.

R&D Roadmap and New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI)

Influences product strategy based on global market, competitor dynamics, and regional-specific variations.

Ensures alignment with business strategy and goals defined by the business leadership team.

Conducts/Leads Voice of the Customer and competitive research.

Creates product roadmap, establishes a business plan, and identifies market requirements definition (MRD).

Collaborates with Project Managers on the creation of the project plan for all deliverables, receive marketing design input, and outline service and support strategy.

Communicates with cross functional team members to ensure preparation for new product launches.

Monitors and ensures delivery of revenue of NPI per forecasted plan.

Contributes to and ensures compliance with established processes and guidelines.

Strategic Pricing

Accountable for the pricing strategy for assigned product line.

Recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the most substantial possible long-term market share.

Support of Product and Training

Contributes to product support strategy, ensuring positive customer experience.

Recommends how product will be serviced, expected response times, etc.

Responsible for completing tasks related to product support and training.

Contributes to plans to support customer loyalty and future sales.

Product Management Leadership

Serves as a subject matter expert, drives Product Management Excellence and supports development of junior colleagues.

Keys to Success:Education

Bachelor’s degree in the scientific or business field

Advanced degree highly desirable - MS, Ph.D., or MBA

Experience

10+ years of related experience required; prior Product Management experience preferred.
