Summary:
Join the R&D Design Department with a globally known and innovative automotive company as a Digital Modeler. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various other creatives to contribute to the development of digital modeling. Bring your expertise and relevancy in the industry and communicate with management to provide updates on development benchmarks of the digital modeling aspects of the design process.
You are expected to travel and work overtime as required by projects as well as coming onsite based on external conditions and projects.
Responsibilities:
• Creates high quality level 3D data using rapid digital modeling tools from 2D sketch to support early styling activities.
• Creates high quality level 3D data using nurbs from scan or sketch information.
• Creates high quality level 3D data incorporating feasibility directions, milling or production requirements.
• May contribute 2D and/or 3D design sketches and sketch models for small parts and overall design proposals.
• Coordinates with management to clarify and direct development of digital modeling aspects of design process.
• Communicates and collaborates with other designers to effectively evolve and refine output.
• Performs other related duties to propel the project, studio, department, and group forward as assigned or requested.
Required Skillset:
• 3+ years of equivalent work experience.
• Proficient use of early styling modeling tools. Alias Sub-D preferred; Blender, Modo, Maya secondary.
• Proficient use of Alias Studio or related 3D modeling software required to perform the job.
• Ability to use 3D visualization software for general data checks and communication with styling.
• Up to date on the industries most used tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
• Ability to implement manager, team feedback, and make revisions for the success of the project.
• Adhere to project timelines to achieve deliverables on time.
• Possess strong communication skills, time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel and work overtime as required by projects.
• Ability to come onsite as required by projects and external conditions.
Bonus Skillset:
• VRED and DeltaGen experience is a plus.
Location: Torrance, CA (Remote option possible)
