Summary of Job description:

Bookkeeping and accounting of two QB accounts

Payroll for 20 staff

Human Resources for 20 Staff

Supply schedules to the auditor

Prepare and present Financial Reports for the CPA and the Finance Committee

Prepare the annual budgets with the staff

Details job description: Staff Accountant

Position Overview:

As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations to ensure the effective management of resources that drive our mission forward. We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized individual who can take charge of day-to-day accounting operations and is familiar with

a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. The position will be posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, and driving the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. There will be opportunities to optimize the use of software and other tools in carrying out key duties and responsibilities. This position may also work on a variety of special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage day-to-day business operations, including a variety of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Perform payroll (we use ADP) and Human Resources duties for a staff of around 20 individuals

- Collaborate with the Executive Director to prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Take charge of budget preparation and monitoring to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

- Track and report on restricted funds, ensuring compliance with fund restrictions.

- Conduct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by performing reconciliations and preparing journal entries.

- Cooperate with financial auditors and prepare schedules and reports as required.

- Take ownership of internal control activities, maintain internal documentation, and continually enhance existing processes to improve efficiencies.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field strongly preferred.

- Experience with non-profit accounting and fund accounting principles is a plus.

- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks, and spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, and/or Google Sheets is required.

- Commitment to continuously improving the efficiency of accounting processes through optimal use of technology, automation, and (potentially) management of bookkeeping resources.

- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Interest in our mission is preferred but, more generally, we are looking for someone with a strong sense of responsibility and a spirit of openness and inquiry.

Working Conditions

- This position is fully remote and accepts applicants from anywhere in the United States.

- Flexible work schedule but at least 5 hours of overlap with regular 9-5 Pacific Time business hours is required.
