The City of Oxnard's Public Works Department is seeking a Senior Grounds Worker with highly skilled landscape and grounds maintenance experience to be part of the team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and customer service skills. This position will be responsible for providing day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and repair of parks, grounds, and related facilities.
The Senior Grounds Worker is the lead class responsible for the day-to-day oversight of landscape and grounds maintenance crews involved in the upkeep and repair of parks, municipal grounds, public housing, and related facilities, maintaining records of program activities and employee scheduling. Duties may involve performing the most technical and difficult landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks, as well as the operation of field maintenance equipment. This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Grounds Worker II by the performance of duties involving a higher level of complexity and difficulty and by overall supervisory responsibility for the activities of landscape and grounds maintenance crews.
Education and/or Experience:
Possess the equivalent of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in landscape and grounds maintenance, including one (1) year of experience in the supervision of grounds maintenance operations.
Possession of a high school diploma, or equivalent, supplemented by specialized training courses.
License, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid class C California driver's license.
A California Qualified Pesticide Applicator Certificate must be acquired within one (1) year of employment.
