Summary
The Program Manager will oversee a portfolio of health equity research projects focused on reducing health disparities among Indigenous and farmworker communities. This role provides leadership, coordination, and accountability across multiple projects, ensuring deliverables are met, partners are engaged, and programs are aligned with MICOP’s mission. Current projects under the Program Manager’s scope include:
● Pesticide Educational Resources Collaborative (PERC) (in partnership with National Center for Farmworker Health) : Enhancing the capacity of partners to design and implement education and prevention strategies that reduce pesticide risks for farmworkers and agricultural pesticide handlers through the implementation and evaluation of project trainings.
● Tobacco Research Program (in partnership with UCLA Center for Health Equity): Leading a community-partnered research initiative to address tobacco, vaping, and cannabis use among Indigenous Mexican agricultural workers. Key responsibilities include supporting a Community Advisory Committee, supervising promotores as research team members, overseeing data collection and analysis, and ensuring dissemination of findings.
● Together for Wellness (in partnership with UC Davis Health and Health Ed Council): Supporting the evaluation of a Mixteco-language mental health resource website, with oversight of data analysis and collaborative planning for culturally responsive mental health interventions for Youth.
● Opioid/Substance Use Program (in partnership with The Center at Sierra Health Foundation): The project is designed to address the opioid and stimulant use disorder (StUD) crises by expanding access to treatment services, reducing unmet treatment needs, and decreasing overdose deaths related to opioids and stimulants. The initiative provides resources to support prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery services. Implement outreach, education, and referral efforts focused on opioid, stimulant, and polysubstance use, with the overarching goal of improving access to care—including services such as Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT).
Responsibilities
● Lead research projects and initiatives through an intersectional social justice framework that recognizes the impacts of colonialism and power structures.
● Facilitate, develop and identify which projects will have a community advisory committee component of 8-10 Indigenous migrant community members.
● Ensure equitable language access and promote language justice through MICOP’s Indigenous Language Interpretation Services.
● Ensure all research projects reflect and support MICOP´s research mission and vision by integrating them into project design, implementation and analysis.
● Develop and implement culturally tailored campaigns and data disseminations.
● Coordinated and executed community outreach initiatives, including promotorx-led presentations, tabling events, PSA broadcasts, and direct engagement to educate and inform diverse audiences.
● Manage data systems and reporting across projects, ensuring accurate tracking of outreach activities, participant engagement, and survey feedback to support analysis and inform program improvements.
● Establish and formalize referral partnerships with public and nonprofit agencies, integrating warm handoff procedures into case management to improve service coordination and client outcomes.
● Develop workplans for research project deliverables and supervise a Research Assistant to support project implementation and progress.

● Experience with data collection and research
● Track record of proven leadership.
● Bilingual English and Spanish, Mixteco is preferred.
Experience
● Bachelor’s degree, or related work experience.
● Minimum two years’ of previous data collection experience.
● Experience managing a professional team.
● Direct experience working with Mixteco/ Indigenous families and/or the community.
