At FM Global you have the power to influence outcomes and make a difference in the future of your clients.Responsibilities:Facility & natural hazards consultant engineers will interact with FM Global clients within many manufacturing industries. Experienced engineers will use their expertise to consult with clients to protect their facilities against fire, explosion, natural hazards, and many other hazards. As a facility & natural hazard consultant engineer, you will develop strong client relationships to advise on risks associated with client businesses as well as develop and implement long-term and short-term risk improvement strategies.Additional responsibilities include:

Evaluate the integrity and reliability of equipment, fire protection systems, and identify hazards and deficiencies to deliver focused risk improvement solutions and reduce facility risk.

Utilize FM Global operating standards, data sheets and guides to provide risk guidance and implement best practices.

Prepare engineering reports, loss expectancies to support risk improvement.

Collaborate with Operations Engineering, Client Services, Account Management and Underwriting on fire and natural hazard recommendations.

Engineers will work from a home office, must be able to manage their time and work independently with minimal supervision.

This is a field-based role and will require travel to large, complex industrial client sites to evaluate the operations and systems of the site and identify risks and hazards. Expected overnight travel is 30%-40%.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience (chemical, power generation, pulp & paper, molten or mining, or semiconductor industries is preferred)

Resident or willing to relocate to San Francisco or Seattle areas

An eagerness to learn across a broad range of industries and types of hazards.

Good analytical, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

Independent and focused within a home office environment, with strong planning and time management skills with minimal supervision.

Results driven and self-motivated are a must

Solid technical aptitude including diverse knowledge of engineering principles

Strong verbal and written English communications skills

Proficient in MS Office products

Physically able to lift 25 pounds, able to climb ladders, and experience heights.

Authorization to work in the US

Valid driver’s license

The hiring range for this position is $76,000 to $144,800. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience.
