Sound good? (We think so, too!) Here's what you would do:
Learns the rules that are currently in force for the assigned sports.
Starts and stops play and corrects inappropriate behavior in accordance with the sport rules as necessary.
Sets up and or inspects playing fields, corrects or isolates any unsafe situations, and continuously monitors conditions for safety throughout scheduled shift.
Inspects and requires participants to properly wear or use safety and personal protective equipment required by league rules.
Watches assigned playing areas and immediate surrounding areas at all times.
Explains and clarifies rules and enforcement actions to coaches and players when necessary to maintain order and the flow of play.
Takes down and returns all YMCA equipment to the designated storage areas and secures them when the last games have concluded.
Attends and participates in all Referee clinics and meetings scheduled by the supervising director.
Qualifications
"OK, I'm sold!" What do I need to qualify?
Minimum 16 years old.
Must be available to work Friday evenings from 3:00pm-8:30pm from January 10th - March 7th for this seasonal program.

Knowledge of and ability to enforce and explain league rules in the assigned sport and related YMCA policies.
Knowledge of and ability to apply active listening and behavior management techniques.
Ability to keep an even temper and communicate positively with players, coaches, parents and other referees.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time to officiate games.
Ability to run intermittently at distances necessary to closely observe and control play in the assigned sport.
Ability to grasp and lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to see to inspect and watch assigned playing and adjacent areas at all times during a scheduled shift.
