Agronomy Lead

DescriptionThe Agronomy Lead will work with the Station Manager to provide agronomic support to all groups within the Woodland, CA research station. The Agronomy Lead will assist with managing the Agronomy team while working across functions to achieve successful research trials and quality data in all crops.Responsibilities - What You'll Do:

Works with station Ops Lead to set priorities for the agronomy team and directs field contacts for all crops on site. Works with Ops lead to determine experiment placement and timing.

Works with team members to maintain collaborative contacts between station ops lead, scientists, agronomists, and contracted staff to ensure research goals are met to expectations.

Have a general understanding/interest in learning about the application/use of experimental design, applied agricultural biotechnology, data analysis, use of GPS/GIS systems, and have an open mindset for learning beyond current experiences and knowledge.

Help with trait collection activities including spreadsheet manipulation, seed sorting, inventorying, and supervision of hourly employees.

QC Data and help with improving the quality of data collected Through agronomic improvements

Will be an integrated member of the Woodland, CA Team, participate in regional safety committees and audits, administer center-wide safety programs, and comply with all center and company policies.

Personally operate all types of farm equipment and minimize down time by correcting issues quickly and staying current with preventive maintenance.

Work with Ops Lead to ensure all agronomy budget considerations are followed.

Periods of extended work hours and overnight travel during planting and harvest will be required.

Identify improvements in procedures and protocols within allotted time constraints.

Identify appropriate and efficient uses of station research project resources.

Direct logistics of all agronomic equipment and employees to complete research tasks in a timely manner.

Able to troubleshoot agricultural equipment issues.

Make daily decisions associated with conducting experiments that reflect Company Policies.

Decide priority of work activities to meet assigned deadlines, balancing all assigned projects.

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree with up to 4 years industry related experience.

Experience with agricultural equipment (tractors, planters, combines) and on-farm usage.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills organizational skills and computer skills/experience.

Excellent personal interaction skills and ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of people.

Must be capable of doing physical lifting (up to 50lbs).

Must have a clean driving record.

#LI-AB1Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is $80,720 - $100,900 yearly. This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.Benefits - How We'll Support You:
