Chef Instructor; Food Lab

Job Summary: The chef instructor role includes, but is not limited to, instructing, cooking, and entertaining a crowd. This is a mix of FOH and BOH since the position interacts with customers while teaching and cooking. The Chef Instructor position requires someone with a passion for hospitality, great people skills, great at following instructions and working with others. We are looking for someone who fits and works seamlessly with our team. All classes are taught using Food Lab menus and following specific operations protocols.

Key responsibilities:

Teaching Cooking Classes, following Food Lab

Instructing guests through a Food Lab menu with demonstrations and guidance

Responsible for time management + class flow to ensure class is executed smoothly and successfully

Understands and executes Food Lab menus

Being aware of any changes that may need to be made to keep Food Lab on brand and keeping the customer the hero in the kitchen

Knowledge of classes/food/wine

Able to use culinary knowledge to engage + direct guests through menus + troubleshoot when necessary

Able to accommodate allergens/dietary restrictions with instruction from Executive Chef/Culinary Director

Customer Service + Hospitality

Making the guest a hero in the kitchen

Cleaning and Maintenance of the facility

Along with kitchen assists, chef instructors clean the Food Lab space after each event and get it ready for the next event

Completing daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks to maintain high standards of cleanliness

Requirements and Responsibilities:

Culinary background, either through experience or school

Time spent professionally cooking

Ability to follow Food Lab’s branded menus and guidelines while still teaching in your own creative style

Broad and well rounded knowledge of ingredients, techniques, cuisines and the ability to teach them

The ability to work quickly and efficiently

Entertaining a crowd while teaching

Work well with team and guests

TIPS certification

Serve Safe certification
