Job description
Overview
We are a small business that has just taken over a kitchen at our partner bar, and we need to expand our team in order to meet demand as our volume grows. We need someone with a friendly demeanor and willingness to learn to help us with food preparation and line service.
Who we are
Borderless started as a catering company out the back of a van with a tent set up at festivals, became a food truck, and now in addition to the food truck we have a full service kitchen at Wheelz Bar & Grill. We have 2 co-owners who are the only employees at the moment, but with the demand to do both in house service and off-site catering we are looking to expand our team so that we can maybe take a day off every once and a while.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
Assist in meal preparation for catering events which will largely be off-site in our food truck. Truck events will include hourly pay as well as a bonus correlating to percent of sales.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of food items.
Be able to communicate daily about inventory as we do not have standing food deliveries and stock the kitchen based on needs that fluctuate throughout the week due to daily specials.
What we would like to see in you
A good attitude towards learning and the ability to interact with customers to make sure they have a positive experience
Flexibility in scheduling is a big plus as we have a number of off-site events that require one
Basic knowledge of the working of a commercial kitchen and food handling. A willingness to learn skills is more important to us than knowing everything off the bat.
Enthusiasm about food! We are still in the process of building our menu and the new kitchen came with a lot of new toys, and we would love to hear some ideas about new items if you like getting creative in the kitchen.
Why you want to work with us
Our business has been growing rapidly in the last year and one of our core beliefs is that as we grow, our employees will see the benefits of increased sales
We have a few large events and several smaller ones coming up, and every event comes with extra pay based on sales if you participate in it.
We stay busy during lunch and dinner, but once prep has been done for the day and service dies down the environment here is laid back.
Please drop us a line with any questions you have! It's a great opportunity on the ground floor and we really mean it when we say team, we take care of our own.
