The Erosion Control Laborer is responsible for the install and maintenance of BMPs - Best Management Practices - within the Erosion Control department, including Silt Fencing, Sediment Control Logs, Erosion Control Blankets, etc. The Erosion Control Laborers are responsible for preparing job sites, operating hand and power tools, and everything else needed to ensure safe operation and execution of the job.
COMPENSATION
$19.71 to $30.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting with install, maintenance, and removal of BMP methods and materials, such as:
o Silt Fencing
o Sediment Control Logs
o Erosion Control Blankets
Removing sediment and other materials from flow line, inlets, and outfall structures.
Operating a variety of tools and machines such as power drills, hand saws, pressure washers, blowers, shovels, pics, sledgehammers, and hand staplers.
Cleaning and preparing the job site including the removal of debris, garbage, and trees.
Loading and unloading materials, equipment, and tools.
Caring for tools used on work sites and keeping them in safe and clean working order.
Safely operating equipment and vehicles if needed.
Understanding and carrying out instructions.
Maintaining positive working relationships.
Checking primary email on a regular basis for any communication from the company, as this is the company’s primary mode of communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Dependability and reliability with a good attendance record and the willingness and ability to adapt to scheduling needs as required to accommodate company and project needs.
Extremely self-motivated with the ability to take the lead on assignments as well as follow instructions and work within parameters of excellency established by leadership.
Good safety history and willingness to engage and contribute to ongoing safe work practices, including the use of PPE, with the ability to safely perform physical and manual work such as digging, shoveling, and operating power tools.
Top-notch communication skills with the ability to effectively, respectfully, and positively interact with supervisors, team members, and subcontractors.
Consistent access to a reliable personal email account.
Preferred
Previous experience working with Erosion and/or Sediment Control BMPs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: High School diploma or GED.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time on various terrain, including slopes and uneven ground, and regularly push, pull, shovel, bend to pick up, and lift items 25 to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow) and muddy ground conditions.
