Construction Safety Administrator.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development and implementation of company safety programs to establish and promote maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions within the organization. Responsible for ensuring that organization facilities and practices are in compliance with government safety regulations. Typical areas of responsibility would include the issuing of safety equipment, conducting safety training programs, investigating incidents and near misses, and preparing material for use in worker’s compensation proceedings. Should be highly organized, an effective communicator, and be willing to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Attention to detail, creative problem solving, and the ability to motivate teams are essential qualities. This position reports directly to the ownership but will work with site superintendents and their field reams.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Job site walks and time spent on construction sites.

· Support the leadership across all departments and create a safe culture and influence changes in the safety environment.

· Advise management and project teams on proper interpretation and implementation of safety regulations.

· Create educational materials for internal training purposes and lead staff training efforts.

· Ensure consistency in all aspects of safety, including training, compliance and procedures.

· Effectively communicate across all departments, regarding current performance, potential hazards, serious incidents, and changes to guidelines affecting safety policies and procedures.

· Provide guidance and recommendations for solutions to any identified deficiencies.

· Develop new hire safety training programs and ensure effectiveness on refresher and re-training sessions.

· Oversee the maintenance of safety records, required annual reporting and other related documentation for the company.

· May assist with annual environmental reporting requirements.

· Oversee safety audit program to document compliance to standards and safety program effectiveness.

· Point of contact for external inquiries related to safety and compliance matters.

· Coordinate safety events, evaluations, program deployment, and other related activities.

· Collaborate with field and office teams to address compliance issues.

· Conduct formal job hazard analyses and project safety reviews.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

· Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

· Knowledge of vertical construction and underground excavation.

· Knowledge of fire prevention programs

· Positive attitude and collaborative

· Experience leading teams in a management role

· Interest and proficient in investigative work

· Strong analytical skills

· High attention to detail

· Ability to directly manage and motivate others

· Ability to maintain confidentiality

Education

· Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental health or related field, or equivalent experience.

· Applicants with a Master’s degree in a technical field such as chemistry, engineering, construction management will be favored.

Related Work Experience

· 5+ years safety administration experience

· 3+ years management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety and Health Manager, Certified Safety Professional, and/or other related safety certifications

· Safety-related government agency experience, including representing company in informal and formal environments concerning citations, complaints, audits and accident investigations.

· Strong background in commercial construction and underground excavation.Construction Safety Administrator.
