Diesel Mechanic

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our septic and waste management fleet, which includes both light-duty work trucks and CDL vehicles. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on septic and waste management fleet vehicles and equipment

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake systems

Conduct tire maintenance and replacement

Test drive vehicles when certified to do so

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Accurately document all work performed and follow company repair procedures

Communicate effectively with drivers, management, and team members

Support a positive and proactive workplace culture

Qualifications

Education & Experience

On-the-job training or diploma in vehicle maintenance from a vocational or trade school

Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as a vehicle or diesel mechanic

Certifications & Licensing

Valid driver’s license required

Class A/B CDL license a plus

Must be authorized to work in the United States

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air/hydraulic brakes, and electrical systems (12V)

Familiarity with truck/trailer lights, wiring, hydraulics, and pneumatics

Ability to read and understand repair manuals

Basic welding, cutting, and fabrication skills

Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations

Physical Requirements

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and driving background check

Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours)

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
