Description of JobThe Fugitive Apprehension Unit collects, identifies, analyzes, and disseminates information on CDOC offenders for the purpose of assisting internal and external major law enforcement investigations, tracking specific offenders or offender populations, and proactively supporting community parole officer caseloads. This position is also responsible for the identification, collection, analysis, reporting and presentation of intelligence, offender information, statistical reporting, presentations, quality assurance, gap analysis and other special projects as needed.Primary Duties include but are not limited to:
Identifies intelligence information and analytical support to the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Division of Adult Parole. To assist in major law enforcement investigations, indictments and criminal suspect identification and apprehension efforts;
Examines computer data systems within the CDOC, outside criminal justice information systems, open source databases, public records, outside agency generated crime bulletins, and media reports to identify, collect and analyze data for the following purposes: Track individual CDOC offenders or CDOC offender populations supervised in the community, gather intelligence, and share information on these offenders in conformance with federal guidelines, Colorado Revised Statutes and CDOC administrative regulations;
Assist community parole officers in data needs not easily accessible to them such as gang monikers, address searches, lists of offenders meeting specific modus operandi, etc;
Identifies as a point of contact with CDOC, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to ensure strong working relationships and collaboration as well as cross-training on analysis and intelligence functions. Serve as a point of contact to all other intelligence personnel and units within CDOC to include the open and proactive exchange and appropriate sharing of intelligence information with Divisional regions and offices, CDOC prison facilities, Office of the Inspector General, etc;
Examines geographic information systems (GIS) mapping tools in order to provide information to community parole officers, CDOC management, as well as outside law enforcement, and to assist community parole officers in managing offenders;
Serve as a Division contact for CDOC Office of the Inspector General;
Other duties as assigned.

OREducation and Experience: A combination of education in related degree fields such as criminal justice, statistical analysis, research methodology or similarly closely related field and experience as defined above equal to six (6) years.
