Are you knowledgeable in IT terminology and possess a strong desire to learn new skills? We will train you to be a specialist in managing the critical, foundational infrastructure of a data center, developing skills and experience in the operation of crucial environmental support equipment. As our new Data Center Technician, you will establish and maintain the physical security of the data centers to state and federal standards and provide specialized support services to tenant agencies including remote hands-on assistance, equipment surplus inventory, and deprecated media storage and destruction. Some of your important daily responsibilities will include:

Operation and management of critical environmental support equipment including:

Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), Remote Power Panels (RPP), Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), In-Row Chillers (IRC), fire suppression systems, security systems, and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems.

Enforce best practice for access, ensuring all personnel are properly cleared.

Ensure physical security of the data center spaces, and IT security of the equipment.

Monitor data center’s status utilizing DCIM tool to confirm power and cooling are delivered as expected.

React according to procedures for any out-of-standards measurements.

Ensure that the power, cooling, and other equipment installations have the associated documentation available and that they meet industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsA wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While all offers are compliant with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, there is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis. This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows: Min i mum Qualifications:

One (1) year of technical experience.

OR

Associate's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment, including Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or other related technical degrees.

Substitutions:

Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.

If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA) certification through Schneider Electric.

Conditions of Employment:OIT employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test. This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
