Registered as a Veterinary Technician (VT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician ( PVT ) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies ( DORA ).
Graduate of accredited veterinary technician program with greater than 1 years’ experience in veterinary medicinePlease note, a transcript or diploma must be attached to this application to demonstrate graduation from the vet tech program.
SUBSTITUTIONS :Candidates can qualify without graduation from a veterinary technician program if they demonstrate 2+ years of veterinary medicine experience.
NOTE : VETERINARY PRACTICE ACT – Effective January 1, 2024, anyone wanting to use the titles Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician, RVT , or VT will have to be certified through the Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians ( CACVT ) AND registered through the Department of Regulatory Agencies ( DORA ). The position provides care to hospitalized patients in Intermediate Care.
The position recovers patients from anesthesia, properly administers medications and fluids as needed, and provides overall patient comfort, under the direction of the primary VTH clinician and according to IC & VTH protocols.
This position works in partnership with the PVM student assigned to the case, and the primary VTH clinician.
This position will communicate with other services regarding the care and transport of patients as necessary within departments of the VTH , and transfers patients as needed.
The position will accurately perform basic drug calculations, observe and recognize changes in patient status, communicate effectively with the IC team, and demonstrate caring behavior with all patients.
This position ensures patient readiness for discharge from the VTH .

Responsible for maintaining equipment in IC, and submitting work orders as needed to make sure that repairs are made.

This position adheres to VTH purchasing and Central Supply protocol.
