We are seeking a Greenhouse Technician for a large scale hemp farm. The Greenhouse Technician will assist the Greenhouse Manager in all phases of plant growth and be responsible for strain creation, hemp genetics, and proper fertilization/propagation procedures. The successful Greenhouse Technician will have experience in plant genetics, fertilization, and strain creation/engineering.
Responsibilities for the Greenhouse Tech Include:
Work with growing staff to establish, and maintain appropriate crop environments, tissue culture programs, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease management
Work with all managers and departments to reduce cost and inputs
Familiarizing yourself with strain creation, hemp genetics, and growing in hoop-houses
Overseeing procurement of growing department operating supplies
Development, deployment and improvement of SOPs - identifying operational improvements in safety, scheduling, scrap reduction and cost reduction
Work with all departments to maintain, improve and update crop schedules ,plant health/quality and adherence to all harvest schedules
Maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment
Desired Experience and Skills for the Greenhouse Tech include:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in an analytical hemp laboratory environment
Operations management mindset as well as a team builder
Knowledge of soil or peat cultivation methods and irrigation methods (hand-water, sub-irrigation, drip systems)
Knowledge of large scale commercial plan plant growing including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, and environmental controls
Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies and toxicity
Advanced knowledge of the cannabis plant and genetics
Must be adept at industry best-practices and current on new techniques and insight with respect to nutrient of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments to different lighting systems and set ups
Must be experienced in transplanting, defoliation, topping, irrigating, pest management, harvesting, drying, trimming, waste disposal and inventory management.
Other Requirements
At least 21 years of age. No violent felony convictions (DUI okay) Willing to participate in an extensive background check. Have a valid driverâs license and reliable transportation.
