TDA is located outside Denver, Colorado, with Wheat Ridge and Golden offices. We have a staff of 100+, mainly engineers and scientists, who develop cutting-edge chemical processes, materials, and hardware for customers in the defense, aerospace, energy, and chemical industries. Our work develops materials and devices for the Medical, Aero, Chemical, Energy and Defense industries. These projects involve hands-on laboratory testing of the materials, including designing, building, and developing prototype devices, analyzing the data, and preparing reports based on the data.Roles and Responsibilities:
Communicate and work with other engineers and technicians to drive projects forward
Fabricate components using machine shop equipment (lathe, end-mill, band saw, etc.)
Assemble, troubleshoot, and conduct testing on various mechanical and chemical apparatuses, recording detailed observations and collecting data
Install, wire, calibrate, and maintain equipment
Assist in the specifying and ordering of components
Coordinate with outside vendors (machine shops, suppliers, specialty fabricators, etc.) respectfully to accomplish specific project needs
Electrically/mechanically troubleshoot and maintain both new and existing laboratory equipment (pumps, ovens, chillers, mixers, test apparatuses)
Under general supervision, calibrate various lab tools and instruments (for example, mass flow controllers, thermocouples, data loggers, conductivity meters)
Maintain inventory of consumables, order replacement parts, source alternative components, and acquire product quotes as needed
Document detailed reports of inspections, maintenance activity, procedures, modifications, and other work performed
Convey complex information clearly and concisely
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
4-7 years of experience
Basic knowledge of Engineering Practices
General assembly and machining skills
Detail Oriented Troubleshooting Skills
Familiarity with Safety Procedures and Chemical Hygiene
Familiarity with MS Office (including Excel for data management)
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Soldering/Welding/Machining
Plumbing of pneumatics and chemical process lines - gas and liquid
Electrical wiring
CAD Design and Drafting
Basic familiarity with Swagelok or mechanical-chemical systems
Physical Demands:
Lift 40 pounds
Sit, stand, or kneel for extended periods
Ascend and descend stairs and ladders
