Description of JobAbout the Work Unit This unit supports all of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in various ways: Investigations, Forensic Services and Support Services by maintaining IT hardware, software and licensing. Provides the CBI with a 99% uptime on its critical systems. Provides world class customer service to all Stakeholders. Innovating outdated processes and procedures. Acts as a point of contact with all vendors. Takes the lead in all software and system upgrades and integrations.About the Job

Provides support in obtaining reports for CBI work units statistical requests.

Requires an in-depth knowledge of the computer systems managed by the CBI.

Provides technical coordination between Federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies to ensure consistent and timely connectivity.

Manages vendor services and writes change requests as well as assuring the Statement of Work (SOW) is accurate and complete.

Acts as a liaison between the CBI and the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Identifies solutions for IT needs within the CBI and makes recommendations to management.

This position has involvement in contract negotiations with large vendors.

Serves as the go to person for any software or hardware related issues prior to contacting OIT.

Helps to develop and monitor large systems, software and equipment replacement plans across the CBI.

Serves as the primary CBI support for new and recurring software and specialized programs.

Develops plans to ensure system operability.

Assists with troubleshooting errors within software platforms.

Assists with implementation and support of data integration.

Key Responsibilities Statistical Information Reports

Provides statistical data and support.

Provides statistical data for decisions regarding legislative requests.

Provides statistical data for business level decisions within the CBI.

Provides statistical data for the CBI Annual Report and other publications.

Creates and maintains new and existing management reports through software platforms.

Support FS Hardware and Software Solutions

Troubleshoots VPN setups and assists CBI staff with interfaces.

Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their needs are being met.

Identifies solutions for IT needs within the CBI and make recommendations to management.

Go to person for any software or hardware related issues prior to contacting OIT.

Monitors large systems, software and equipment replacement plans across the CBI.

Assists with troubleshooting errors within software platforms.

Assists CBI staff with setup of reimaged computers.

Vendor Management

Prepares and submits change requests to vendors as required by projects for applications.

Ensures system/application issues are corrected and operational in the quickest time with the least impact on users.

Ensures vendors are providing the best solution.

Makes recommendations to solutions involving the various applications and projects.

Collaborates with OIT on new and recurring software licenses for effectiveness and efficiency.

Prepares, develops and implements interface testing and protocols between systems internal and external to CBI.

Documents processes and procedures for testing and maintenance.

Collaborates with vendors to troubleshoot and identify the source of issues.

Advises and assists with new and uncommon IT purchases.

Collaborates with OIT on major IT projects and updates.

Works with stakeholders before, during and following the launch of systems to ensure we are best meeting their needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Six (6) years of professional systems administration experienceORBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in information technology, computer science or related field AND two (2) years of systems administration experienceORA combination of related education and/or relevant systems administration experience equal to six (6) years PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) and their vendors.

Experience providing IT (Information Technology) support and/or business.

Experience with the MORPHO Mobile ID.

Excellent vendor relation skills.

Exceptional time management skills and ability to switch between project tasks effectively.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.

Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam, a fingerprint based criminal history search and drug testing.
