Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Role Scope Advanced Practitioners at Hartford hospital practice Emergency Medicine (ED) / Emergency Room (ER) in a very busy level 1 trauma center alongside residents and attendings. Suturing, minor surgical skills, splinting/casting, gyn exam (job or preceptorship experience). Strongly preferred: minimum 1 year experience in Emergency Medicine. Proficiency with minor surgical skills essential. Required: Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medicalnursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Strong customer service skills with a focus on quality and efficiency. The ability to positively react to a busy, demanding, and dynamic clinical atmosphere with varying patient volumes, acuities, and medical problems. FNP / PA-C: graduation from an accredited FNP / PA program (Elective rotation in Emergency Medicine strongly preferred), Masters degree preferred. We serve a wide range of patients, 18 years of age or older, with diagnoses including but not limited to CHF, COPD, sepsis, and alcohol withdrawal. Education: BS degree requiredOR 5 Years’ RN Experience in lieu of BS degree. Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an individual basis. For example, a strong candidate in the process of completing the educational requirement will be considered. Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement within five years will be required. Experience:Minimum one-year nursing experience.
