Overview:

Are you outgoing? Energetic? Passionate about games and comic conventions? We have a dream job for you!

About The Company:

Founded in 2017, Game of HAM LLC is an indie board game dedicated to selling its indie game, and whacky products related to it. The flagship game, Game of HAM – Adult Set, is describable as Cards Against Humanity meets the board game Sorry, cranked a bit darker. It is a crude and crass adult party game not at all suitable for children.

The Job Description:

You are expected to assist in all aspects of running this convention (Tommy's Tattoo Convention). This means assisting in loading things from the vehicle to the convention booth and vice-versa at load-out. You will be expected to assist with setting up the booth (there will be a team leader from the company throughout the event).

The Convention Hours Are As Follows:

Show Hours 2024:

Friday (10/11) - 4:00pm-11:00pm

Saturday (10/12) - 12:00pm-11:00pm

Sunday (10/13) - 12:00pm-8:00pm

Load-in must be done by 12pm on Friday (10/11), so we will drive over with the plan of making it to Mohegan Sun Casino (the location of the event) by 11am that day. We will be commuting each day to and from Stamford, CT (1:30 min drive); being picked up on route is something that can be discussed. Parties may get a ride from us or meet at the location at the given time. Load-out, if all goes according to plan, should be under 20 mins, but can be up to an hour if it's a messy loading dock situation (rarely more); other events at this location indicate it should be a smooth load-out.

Compensation:

$150/day per show day ($450 total) + tips are pooled and split among all people working at the booth at the end of the show evenly. Time of payment can be discussed based on the applicants desires, but the hope is to get all the calculations for tips and Venmo (or find another method that works for the applicant). Since it is a late night, math and payment would occur the following Monday (10/14).

Job Requirements:

Outgoing Personality – Must be able to start a dialogue with attendees at conventions. The expectation is to talk to every attendee that walks by; being able shift between groups quickly is a must (every person can be a sale or a time-waster, and it's impossible to know who is who). Training is available for the applicant prior to the show.

Able To Lift 50lbs – During move-in and load-out, you will need to trans-load.

Able To Be on Feet 8+ Hours – Much of the job is standing at the front of the booth on concrete. This can be taxing over 3-4 days.

Ability To Juggle People in A Fast-Moving Environment – You are expected to engage with as many attendees as possible. This means being able to have checkpoints during your pitch for people to walk, marinade (look at content in peace), and make judgment calls on time-wasters with ways to move them from the booth faster. This will come with time, and training is once again available. This also means moving attendees around to clear up space in front of the booth or overcrowd the table.

Can Work in Teams – Be able to jump in when a colleague needs help, and be able to group people together in one pitch.

Have A Sense of Humor – If you only see this as a job and can’t have fun being unhinged (respectfully) with the attendees, then this job isn’t for you. If you don’t like dark humor yourself; this is likely not the job for you.

Observant Multitasker – Can identify people expressing interest in the booth’s signage while pitching to people. Passing cards to these people discretely while pitching is necessary to line the next group up.

Always Try to Get Something from Attendees – This means try to upsell them on bundle deals, land a basic sale (like our hot new dicky product), or at least get them to connect with us on social media and take a flyer.

Know The Product – This means being able to explain it and answer questions.

Reliable – If you can't be punctual or just don't show up, the job is terminated and any due payments will be figured out that Monday (10/14) and future job opportunities (we do shows weekly) will be automatically not considered.

Inventory Check – It's everyone on the team's responsibility to make sure sales are logged on our handwritten notebook. The team leader will write these sales, but everyone must make sure their sales are accounted for on this sheet.
