DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a Communications Specialist to work on a fast-paced, high-profile multi-million-dollar federal client account preventing terrorism and targeted violence. The Specialist will be responsible for supporting the creation and review of policy documents and strategy. Additionally, they will liaise with the client to understand their needs and adjust content accordingly.The Specialist will work collaboratively with a team of communications professionals, including project managers, communications specialists, the DCG research practice, and graphic designersto support this mission-driven work. At large, the team supports various communications, marketing, design, and research initiatives for our Department of Homeland Security client in its mission to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient nation.Location:At DCG the majority of our team members, including this role, are remote. With over 100 employees based in 28 states (and counting!), DCG is committed to hiring talented employees across the United States. The selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours.Position Requirements:

A bachelor's degree, preferably in public policy, political science, or a related field

At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience supporting legislative communications campaigns and strategy, including federal clients, preferably at a public relations or marketing firm/agency

Experience in developing and disseminating information through op-eds, press releases, policy briefs, reports, and other publications

Prior experience working on Capitol Hill including experience in legislative affairs and the press;

Strategic mindset and ability to develop, apply, and execute strategy on behalf of the client

Experience developing and writing in a variety of communication formats and styles, including but not limited to press releases, blogs, presentations, social media, talking points, and fact sheets, with the ability to grasp the tone and voice of the audience

Ability to work on multiple projects and manage multiple deadlines while communicating effectively across internal and external teams

Proven ability to liaise and develop trust and rapport with clients including listening attentively, asking thoughtful questions to better understand their needs, offering solutions, confirming agreed-upon next steps, and setting timelines in alignment with the needs and requirements of the client

Strong attention to detail andorganizational skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Security Public Trust clearance

Possess a high degree of professionalism, both with client and internal team communications and interactions

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within a Senator or Congressman'soffice as a press liaison

Active DHS public trust clearance
