Join our team of professionals who support large-scale government operations by leveraging cutting-edge technology and take your career to the next level!The Contract Specialist I support the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (AFRCO) and the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition Special Programs Division (SAF/AQL) in planning and managing acquisitions for a range of products and services critical to national security. This role is essential to the Air Force’s mission of delivering capabilities to address emerging threats and advancing combat systems. You will provide procurement support while ensuring compliance with Federal, Department of Defense, and Air Force acquisition policies and regulations. Through your work, you will help drive effective mission execution, foster innovation, and strengthen technical capabilities in high-priority projects.Responsibilities

Acquisition Planning and Management : Assist in planning and managing acquisitions for a variety of products and services within the contracts division.

Comprehensive Contract Support : Deliver cradle-to-grave contract support, including pre-award and post-award activities, such as:

Conducting market research and preparing solicitation documentation.

Reviewing proposals for compliance and performing cost and price evaluations.

Assisting in the development of negotiation strategies and performing contract administration.

Maintaining contract files and drafting a range of contract actions and supporting documents, such as price negotiation memorandums, determinations and findings, justifications, approvals, and market research reports.

Reviewing and processing invoices.

Strategic Acquisition Support : Collaborate with the Contracting Officer in developing acquisition strategies, including determining contract methods and types based on the specific needs of each project.

Contract Oversight : Support the Contracting Officer in monitoring contract performance by reviewing issues and budget constraints and provide basic insights and recommendations.

Contracting Expertise : Apply knowledge of contracting for complex programs, including major systems and R&D projects, using a variety of contracting methodologies (e.g., negotiated contracts, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and commercial acquisitions) per Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS), and Air Force Acquisition Regulations (AFFARS).

End-to-End Contract Management : Manage contract actions from initiation through closeout, ensuring adherence to policies and regulatory standards.

Source Selection and Documentation : Conduct source selection activities, cost and price analysis, negotiation support, and preparation of all necessary contract documentation.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field.

Experience : At least one year of relevant Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or industry experience in a Special Access Program (SAP) or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment within the past five years.

License : Valid and active driver’s license.

Clearance : Active TS/SCI clearance with eligibility to obtain a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI Poly).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Contracting Knowledge : Possess an understanding of acquisition and contracting processes for complex systems, research and development projects, and classified programs, in compliance with FAR, DFARS, and AFFARS.

Analytical Skills : Ability to conduct cost and price analyses, perform market research, and assess contract performance under aggressive schedules and demanding performance standards.

Organizational Skills : Capable of maintaining detailed contract files, drafting accurate and compliant documentation, and managing multiple contract actions from start to finish.

Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication skills to support contract negotiation, performance oversight, and interaction with stakeholders.

Adaptability : Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage workloads to support mission-critical national security initiatives.

Flexibility for Travel: Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed; however travel is expected to be infrequent if at all.
